General Questions

To ensure the health and safety of all delegates, speakers, staff and volunteers, the IFA has decided to host the first virtual and in person event global Conference where delegates around the world can learn, discuss, interact and advocate for policies and practices to create an Age-Friendly environment.

For delegates attending in person, the conference will be held between two locations:

The Pre-Conference will be hosted on 9 November 2021 and the Conference from 10-12 November 2021.

Yes, the IFA has secured a room block at the reduced rate of $159.00 (+ taxes and fees) CAD/ night.

Virtual Conference Questions

Having a webcam is not mandatory and not having one does not restrict you from attending and making the most out of the virtual conference.

Delegates will only need a computer desk or laptop and Internet connection.
There is no need to download separate plugins or any additional software.

Delegates will only need to log in to the virtual event and access the entire event online.

Although attending the virtual conference using a computer desk or laptop is more advisable, delegates can definitely attend the event using a smartphone.

All sessions will be live. However, delegates who are in another country and find it difficult to participate during the live sessions due to the time zone difference will be able to access the record presentations at the time that suits them the best.

Yes. Delegates will be able to switch from one session to another.

Yes. During the virtual 15th Global Conference on Ageing “Rights Matter”, delegates will be able to meet, discuss, ask questions during live sessions and engage insights with likeminded people and industry peers via breakout-rooms and other channels that provide 1-1 and group interaction.

Definitely. The online event platform provides two different ways of interacting with speakers:
– Raise Hand – Click on the raise hand option and let the speaker/presenter know that you have a query/opinion to share.
– Q&A – Type in your questions and send them to speakers in real-time. Speakers/presenters will have the choice to answer either live or type it in for you in the Q&A space.

  • Prepare a comfortable space
  • Minimize distractions
  • Have a notepad and pen to take notes
  • Familiarize yourself with the platform the IFA will use and make sure it works properly on your computer
  • Make sure your audio is working properly
  • Test your Internet connection

Registration and Abstract Submission Questions

The call for abstracts is now open and submissions will be accepted until 1 July 2021.

To submit an abstract, presenters must first register. A link to the Presentation Portal, where abstracts are to be submitted, will be e-mailed to presenters upon registration. Once you submit your abstract you will receive a confirmation email, if you do not receive the email or you are having trouble submitting your abstract please contact Ms. Andra Stancu (astancu@ifa.ngo).

All abstracts must be submitted in English as it is the main language of the conference.

Trying a different browser, such as Google Chrome, may solve technical difficulties.

Follow these instructions to ensure your version of Google Chrome is up-to-date. If you need further assistance, contact Ms Andra Stancu and include screenshots of any error messages.

Abstracts for oral and poster presentations, symposiums, and workshops are being accepted. Guidelines for each presentation format are available here.

An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent via e-mail within thirty minutes of submission.

Unfortunately, no; the only option is to withdraw the abstract. If this is the case, please inform the IFA as soon as possible.

Financial support is not available to presenters unless the presenter is an approved bursary applicant.

A volunteer manual and schedule will be posted in late 2021.

The IFA thanks everyone who is interested in volunteering, however volunteers are expected to cover any travel and accommodation costs they would need.
